Lloyd Harbor is an incorporated village, unlike most of its neighbors
The Town of Huntington is the eleventh most populous town in New York State, population 204,127, and it contains only four incorporated villages: Asharoken, Huntington Bay, Lloyd Harbor and Northport. Everything else — Centerport, Cold Spring Harbor, Dix Hills, Greenlawn, Huntington, Melville, East Northport and a dozen more — is an unincorporated hamlet.
So Lloyd Harbor has its own village government while the hamlet our salon sits in does not. You are still a Town of Huntington resident, though, which is what town-run pet services key off. The Town's off-leash dog run is at the Huntington Animal Shelter, 106 Deposit Rd, East Northport — the same hamlet as the salon. It is roughly two-thirds of an acre with waste stations, a shade pavilion and running water, open Monday to Friday 8 to 6 and weekends 9 to 4. Permits are free but require Town residency, a licensed dog, current rabies vaccination, a dog at least four months old, and a maximum of two dogs per visit, and you pick them up at the shelter office past the dog park. If you are unsure how your paperwork is handled there, ask the shelter rather than taking our word for it.
Why searching your village name turns up so little
Grooming searches on Long Island run on town and hamlet names, not village names. Google's autocomplete carries town-level grooming queries for Huntington, Huntington Station, Northport, East Northport, Commack, Smithtown, Kings Park, Melville and Dix Hills. There is no Lloyd Harbor completion anywhere in that set. Search follows the names people actually type into the box, and the smaller the place, the less likely it has queries of its own.
That leaves you with two unsatisfying options. Search your village name and the results are thin and scattered. Search the town name and you land on a page held almost entirely by directories — Yelp, Care.com, Nextdoor — plus salon home pages that publish neither hours nor prices. The pricing gap is the part that costs you time. In an audit of 18 Long Island grooming salons, read from their own websites, only 7 offered online booking and only 3 published any pricing at all. Among fixed salons in the Huntington, East Northport and Commack area, we could not find one other that publishes prices. The only Long Island groomers who routinely publish ranges are mobile services, which is a different kind of appointment at a different price.

Bath & Brush versus full groom, and prices by weight
These are two different appointments and people mix them up constantly, which is how you end up disappointed at pickup.
A Bath & Brush is a wash, a proper dry and a brush-out. No clippers, no change in coat length. It is the right booking for a shedding Lab, a short-coated dog that rolled in something, or a long-coated dog whose length you are already happy with.
A full groom is all of that plus a haircut — clipper and scissor work to a length you agree on at drop-off. If your dog is a doodle, a Shih Tzu, a Maltipoo or anything else with hair that keeps growing, this is almost certainly the appointment you want.

Both ranges are banded by weight, smallest dogs at the bottom, largest at the top. That is the whole pricing logic: a bigger dog is more coat, more water and more drying time. If you know roughly what your dog weighs, you know roughly where you land before you arrive.
A badly matted coat is the one honest exception. Mats sit tight against the skin, and brushing them out hurts the dog more than shaving them off does. If the coat is matted through, the humane outcome is a shorter cut than you pictured — we will tell you that at drop-off rather than at pickup. And if there is anything under the coat that looks wrong, we will point it out and tell you to see your vet. Groomers spot things. Vets diagnose them.

What this location does not offer
East Northport is a grooming salon and nothing else. If you need daycare, boarding or retail alongside grooming, that is Ronkonkoma, which offers all four. We also do not groom cats, do not do creative coloring or show grooming, and will never promise a medical outcome.
One local reason to keep an eye on the coat: Suffolk County ticks. New York State splits its surveillance into two fixed windows, nymphs May through September and adults October through December. In Suffolk in 2025, 26.6% of nymphs carried the Lyme bacterium, and 52.8% of adults collected October to December tested positive — roughly double. A groom is not tick prevention, but a thorough brush-out is one of the few times somebody goes over your dog inch by inch. Prevention itself is a conversation with your vet.

No. The salon is at 16 Laurel Rd in East Northport, a short drive away, and the second is in Ronkonkoma. Your address does not change the price — that is set by your dog's weight and the service you book.
Why is the price a range and not one number?

Can I just turn up?

My dog is nervous with strangers. Is that a problem?
It is common, and worth saying at drop-off rather than hoping it goes unnoticed. Tell us what sets the dog off — dryers, nail clippers, being lifted — and we will work around it where we can. If your dog needs sedation to be handled safely, that is a veterinary decision, not ours.
How often should a doodle come in?
More often than most owners expect, because doodle coat keeps growing and mats from the skin outward. The honest test is not the calendar, it is your comb: if it will not pass to the skin behind the ears, in the armpits or on the back legs, the coat is already tighter than a brush can fix at home.
What if I only need nails done?
If nails are all you need and you want it on the spot with no appointment, the big-box salons in Huntington Station and Commack position nail trims as a walk-in service, and that may suit you better. We are an appointment salon, so book a slot if you would rather it were done here.
