Weight rather than breed is deliberate. Breed names are unreliable — two dogs called goldendoodles can be a different size class and a different coat type entirely. Weight is a decent proxy for how much dog there is to wash, how long the dryer runs and how long the table time takes.
Weight sets the price. Condition sets the time.
Condition is the honest caveat. A coat that has been brushed all season and a coat that has not been touched since spring are very different amounts of work, and a heavily matted dog is a different job from a tidy one. Say so when you book. Nobody enjoys having that conversation at the door.
Brushing a tightly matted coat out is slow and it hurts. When a coat is packed to the skin, the kind answer is usually a short clip and a fresh start, not an hour of pulling. And if the skin underneath looks red, sore or smells off, that is a vet question rather than a grooming one — get it looked at.
Bath and brush, or full groom?
Picking the wrong one is the most common way people overpay, or leave disappointed. The test is simple: does the coat keep growing, or does it reach a length and shed?
A bath and brush is usually enough

A full groom is the right call

Our Ronkonkoma salon, at 835 Portion Rd, is the one that does grooming plus daycare, overnight boarding and retail, and it is open seven days a week from 9 to 5. It is a short drive east — worth knowing if the only day your week has spare is a Sunday, or if the dog needs somewhere to stay rather than something to wear.

Two cases where we are honestly not your best option. If you need someone to come to your driveway, a mobile groomer is the right shape of business for that, and several operate across the Huntington area. And if your dog cannot travel comfortably, or has something going on that needs managing first, talk to your vet before you talk to us. Grooming can wait a week.
The Town of Huntington's off-leash dog run is at the Town Animal Shelter, 106 Deposit Road, East Northport 11731 — the same hamlet and ZIP as us. It is roughly two-thirds of an acre, with waste stations, a shade pavilion and running water, open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and weekends 9am to 4pm. Permits are free but require Huntington residency, a licensed dog, a current rabies vaccination, a minimum age of four months, and no more than two dogs per visit. More generally: town code keeps dogs off all Huntington town beaches except paved areas and boardwalks, and leashes are capped at six feet.
