If you searched for dog grooming in Hauppauge and ended up here, start with the honest part: we are not in Hauppauge. Lillian Ruff Pet Spa is at 16 Laurel Rd in East Northport, a short drive from you. There is no catchment and no residency rule, so the only real question is whether the drive is worth it — and what we can give you before you spend it is the thing almost nobody around here publishes: a real price range, and a booking page that works at eleven at night.

Short version

East Northport salon, Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Bath and brush runs $35 to $120. A full groom with haircut runs $70 to $155. Both are set by your dog's weight, and you can book the appointment online without calling.

Why a Hauppauge search comes back scrambled

Names in this part of Suffolk County do not stack neatly. "Hauppauge" is a hamlet name, a postal name and a school district name, and those three lines do not sit on top of each other. The clearest proof is next door: Commack School District serves most of Commack plus parts of Dix Hills and parts of Hauppauge, while portions of Commack are served by the Hauppauge, Northport-East Northport, Smithtown and Kings Park districts instead. Two neighbors on the same block can honestly give you two different answers about where they live.

Search engines inherit that mess. When we looked at the results for our own hamlet — "dog groomer East Northport NY" — the first page was Yelp, Care.com, Nextdoor, a couple of directory sites, and salon and mobile-groomer homepages. Not one article, guide or price page ranked at all. Run the same kind of search from Hauppauge and you will get a similar shape: listings and homepages, sorted mostly by how close the pin is to you rather than by whether the salon actually suits your dog.

The other pattern worth knowing is that every Long Island result we found for instant or online booking was a mobile groomer — a van that comes to your driveway. No fixed salon in the Huntington area surfaced for those booking-convenience searches. So if your reason for searching is "I want to book this without a phone call," the results will quietly push you toward mobile service, whether or not that is what your dog needs.

A search engine sorts by distance. It has no idea whether your dog hates the dryer.

What it costs

We publish our ranges. Of eighteen Long Island salons we audited from their own websites, only three published any pricing at all, and among salon-based groomers in the Huntington, East Northport and Commack area we could not find a single one that put prices on their site. That is not a knock on them — plenty of good groomers price on the phone. It just means you cannot compare before you call, and a Hauppauge dog owner deciding whether a drive is worth it deserves a number first.

ServicePrice rangeHow it's set
Bath & brush$35 – $120By your dog's weight, smallest at the bottom of the range, largest at the top
Full groom with haircut$70 – $155Same weight banding, with the haircut included

The difference between the two is the haircut. A bath and brush is a wash and a proper dry-out with no scissor or clipper work. A full groom adds the haircut. If your dog is a short-coated breed who mainly needs to stop smelling like the yard, the cheaper option is usually the right one and we will tell you so.

Only two things move the number: how much your dog weighs, and whether he needs a haircut. If you are not sure which end of a range you are looking at, weigh him before you book — a bathroom scale, holding the dog and subtracting yourself, is close enough to tell you whether you are near the bottom of the band or the top. Ask us at booking if you want it confirmed for your dog.

Hours, and when we are the wrong call

Five operating days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. If a Sunday appointment is the only thing that works around your week, East Northport cannot help you — but our Ronkonkoma salon at 835 Portion Rd is open seven days, 9 to 5, and it is a reasonable option from the Hauppauge side. That is a genuine difference between the two locations, not a sales line.

We also do not do walk-ins, same-day, emergency or after-hours grooming at either salon, so if your dog rolled in something at 6pm on a Sunday, the answer is a bath at home tonight and an appointment later in the week.

Grooming only at East Northport

What this salon does

  • Bath and brush
  • Full groom with haircut
  • Published pricing by weight
  • Online booking, no phone call

What it doesn't

  • No daycare
  • No overnight boarding
  • No retail shop at this address
  • No cats
  • No creative coloring or show grooming

Daycare, boarding and retail all live at the Ronkonkoma location. East Northport is a grooming salon and nothing else, which is worth knowing before you plan a drop-off around a workday. If what you actually need is somewhere for the dog to spend the day, this is not the address.

East Northport

One local detail that catches out-of-town visitors: the Town of Huntington's off-leash dog run is at 106 Deposit Rd, right here in East Northport, and it looks like an easy add-on to a grooming trip. It is not. Entry needs a Town-issued permit, and the permit requires Town of Huntington residency along with a licensed, spayed or neutered, rabies-current dog. If you live outside the town, plan the trip around the appointment, not the dog run.

If your dog is a doodle, read this part

The coat is where the money goes. A doodle coat mats close to the skin, and once it does, brushing it out is no longer a kindness — the humane answer is a shorter cut than you wanted. That is not a groomer being lazy, it is the coat making the decision for you. The way to keep the haircut you actually like is a comb that reaches the skin, used through the armpits, behind the ears and along the collar line between visits, and a booking rhythm you keep to rather than one you react to.

The tick conversation, since you're in Suffolk

Grooming is often when a tick gets found, because it is one of the few times somebody goes through the coat systematically. Some numbers that are actually measured rather than guessed at: New York State's health department splits its deer-tick surveillance into nymphs from May to September and adults from October to December. In Suffolk County in 2025, nymph density came in at 61.04 ticks per 1,000 square meters, with 26.6% carrying the bacterium behind Lyme. Among adult ticks collected that October through December, 52.8% tested positive — roughly double the nymph rate.

Worth knowing, and worth keeping in proportion: Suffolk ranked eighth in New York for nymphal density that year, well behind Orange, Oneida and Dutchess counties. This is a check-your-dog situation, not a panic.

Careful

If we find a tick, a lump, a hot spot, an ear that smells wrong or skin that has clearly been bothering your dog, we will show you and tell you plainly. We will not tell you what it is. Groomers spot things; vets diagnose them. Anything on that list is a call to your veterinarian, not to us.

Questions people actually ask

Are you actually in Hauppauge?

No. Our salon is at 16 Laurel Rd, East Northport, NY 11731. It is a short drive, and we are not going to pretend to be around the corner from you.

Do I need to live in the area to book?

No. There is no catchment, no residency requirement and no membership. If you are willing to make the drive, the booking page is open to you.

Can I book without calling?

Yes. Booking runs online through our grooming page — no phone call, no waiting on a callback.

Are you open Sunday or Monday?

East Northport is closed both days. Our Ronkonkoma salon at 835 Portion Rd is open seven days a week, 9am to 5pm, if a weekend appointment is the deciding factor.

How much will my dog cost exactly?

It comes down to weight and whether he needs a haircut. Bath and brush sits between $35 and $120, a full groom with haircut between $70 and $155, with the smallest dogs at the bottom of each range and the largest at the top. Weigh your dog before you book and you will know roughly where you land — and if you want it confirmed for your dog, ask us.

Do you groom cats, or do color work?

Neither. No cats, and no creative coloring or show grooming at either location.

If you want the full picture on the salon itself — address, hours and services in one place — it is on the East Northport location page.
