What a groom costs at 16 Laurel Rd
Two services, both priced by how much dog there is to work on. A ten-pound Maltese and an eighty-pound shepherd are not the same job, so they are not the same price.

Where your dog lands inside that range depends on weight, from the smallest dogs at the bottom of the band to the largest at the top. The bands are published by weight on the grooming page, so you can read them before you contact anyone.
Publishing this at all is unusual around here. When we put together our guide to Long Island grooming salons, we checked 30 salons against their own websites; of the 18 that made the list, only 7 let you book online and only 3 published any pricing at all. Closer to home, no salon-based groomer we could find in East Northport, Huntington or Commack publishes prices on its own site. We would rather you saw the numbers first and decided in your kitchen instead of on hold.
A weight band is not really about weight. It is about how many square inches of coat somebody has to get a comb all the way through.
What each service includes, and how long to allow
The difference between the two is the haircut. A bath and brush is the right choice for a dog whose coat does not get scissored or clipped — most Labs, beagles, shepherds, pit mixes, short-coated dogs generally, and plenty of double coats that need the undercoat worked out rather than cut off. A full groom is for the coats that keep growing: doodles, poodles, shih tzus, bichons, terriers with a trimmed outline, anything you would describe as "needing a haircut."
Book a bath & brush if

- You like the length and just want the dog clean and brushed through
- It is a maintenance visit between full grooms
Book a full groom if
- The coat has grown past where you want it
- The face, feet or sanitary areas need shaping
- It is a doodle, poodle or any coat that mats without cutting
On timing. Plan to drop off and come back rather than sit and wait. How long it takes depends on size, coat type and what condition the coat is in when it arrives — a small smooth-coated dog is a fundamentally shorter appointment than a large double coat that has not been brushed in three months. Ask for a pickup window when you book or at drop-off, and you will get a straight answer for your dog rather than a generic one.
Tight mats cannot be brushed out without hurting the dog, and pulling at them is worse than cutting them off. If the matting is solid to the skin, the honest answer is a shorter cut than you wanted — so ask us at drop-off to tell you before we start rather than after, and we will. If there is anything going on with the skin underneath, we will point it out and tell you to see your vet. We are groomers, not veterinarians, and we do not diagnose.
Tuesday to Saturday — and what this location does not do
East Northport is open five days a week, Tuesday through Saturday, 9am to 5pm. We are closed Sunday and Monday. If you are searching on a Sunday afternoon, the booking page still works; the first day we could see your dog is simply Tuesday.
This location is grooming only. That is worth saying plainly, because plenty of pet businesses bundle everything together and it is easy to assume.
If you need daycare, overnight boarding or a shop to buy from, that is our Ronkonkoma salon at 835 Portion Rd — a different building, open seven days a week, 9 to 5. It is a separate trip, not a service we can add on at Laurel Road.
Where we are: Laurel Road, East Northport
East Northport is a hamlet in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County — unincorporated, ZIP 11731, about five square miles, roughly 20,000 people. It borders Northport to the north, Commack to the south, Greenlawn to the west and Fort Salonga to the east. Larkfield Road is the hamlet's main commercial spine and its historic core; we are on Laurel Road.
The Town of Huntington's off-leash dog run sits at 106 Deposit Road, East Northport — same hamlet, same ZIP as us. It is open Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and weekends 9am to 4pm, and it needs a free Town permit: Huntington residency, a licensed dog, current rabies. Worth knowing that a morning at the dog run and a same-week groom is a sensible order to do things in, not the reverse.

Choose a day and time
Booking is online, so you can do it at 11pm if that is when you remembered. The first open day is always a Tuesday if you are looking over the weekend.

Bring your dog on a leash. Tell us what you actually want — "shorter than last time," "leave the ears," "he hates the dryer" is all useful. Mention anything sore, any recent injury, and anything about how he handles handling.
Agree the pickup window, then go
Ask what time to come back before you leave, and ask us to call you if anything changes — matting that has to come off, something we notice on the skin, a dog who is finding the day hard. Say it at drop-off and leave a number you will actually answer.

Are you open on Sundays or Mondays?
No. East Northport runs Tuesday through Saturday, 9am to 5pm. You can still book online on a Sunday; the appointment itself will just fall on an open day.

Which service should I book if I am not sure?
If you want the dog's coat left at the length it is, book the bath and brush. If anything needs to be cut — length, face, feet, sanitary — book the full groom. Those are the two grooming appointments at this location.
Do you groom cats?
No. Dogs only. We also do not do creative coloring or show grooming, so if that is what you are after you will want a specialist elsewhere.
Can I leave my dog for the day, or overnight?
Not at this location — East Northport is a grooming salon and nothing else. Daycare, boarding and retail are at our Ronkonkoma salon, 835 Portion Rd, which is open seven days.
My dog is nervous about grooming. What should I say?
Say it when you drop off, and be specific: dryers, nail clippers, having his feet held, being lifted. "He is nervous" tells us less than "he panics when his back feet come off the table." Knowing in advance changes how we approach him, and it is far more useful to us than an apology at pickup.
