Dog Grooming for Centerport, NY: Prices, Hours & Booking
Lillian Ruff Pet Spa
If you live in Centerport and search for a dog groomer, what comes back is mostly directory listings and aggregator profiles that were never written by anyone who has held a wet dog. So here is the plain version instead: what grooming costs, when we are open, what we will not do, and how to book without a phone call.
Lillian Ruff Pet Spa is at 16 Laurel Rd, East Northport — a short drive from Centerport. Tuesday to Saturday, 9 to 5. Bath and brush runs $35 to $120 by weight, a full groom with haircut $70 to $155. You can see the pricing and book the appointment yourself online.
Centerport is a hamlet on the Town of Huntington's north shore
Centerport is one of the Town of Huntington's 18 unincorporated hamlets. Huntington is the eleventh most populous town in New York State, with a little over 204,000 residents, and it contains four incorporated villages — Asharoken, Huntington Bay, Lloyd Harbor and Northport — plus hamlets like Centerport, Greenlawn, Dix Hills, Melville and East Northport that have no village government of their own.
For a dog owner, that unincorporated status has one practical consequence worth knowing: the rules you live under come from the Town of Huntington, not from a village board. The six-foot leash limit in town parks, the ban on dogs at town beaches except paved areas and boardwalks, the permit system for the town's off-leash run — those are town rules, and they are the same rules that apply in East Northport, because it is the same town.
Phragmites Park, on Fort Salonga Road in Centerport, is one of the Town of Huntington's named on-leash dog-walking spots. Town rules require a leash of six feet or shorter, and Huntington Town Code prohibits dogs from all town beaches except the paved areas and boardwalks. If your dog swims anywhere it is allowed to, that salt and sand is worth a rinse before it dries into the coat.
Centerport, Greenlawn and East Northport are next-door neighbors
Harborfields Central School District serves all of Centerport, along with large parts of Greenlawn and Huntington. And East Northport is bordered by Greenlawn on its western side — Northport to the north, Commack to the south, Fort Salonga to the east. So the trip from Centerport to our door crosses one hamlet, inside one town.
One quirk that surprises people who did not grow up here: the LIRR station called Northport is physically in East Northport, at Larkfield Road and Bellerose Avenue on the Port Jefferson Branch. Greenlawn is the next station west. If you have ever parked at the Northport station, you have already been in East Northport.
Grooming prices by weight, published up front
We publish our pricing. That should not be remarkable, and yet: of 18 Long Island salons audited from their own websites, only 7 offer online booking and only 3 publish any pricing at all. Most of the market still asks you to call and be told a number.
Ours is banded by weight, smallest dog to largest, and the band is the honest driver of the price — a big dog is more bath, more drying time, more brushing, more of everything.
| Service | Price range | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Bath & brush | $35 – $120 | Wash, dry and a full brush out. No haircut. |
| Full groom with haircut | $70 – $155 | Everything above, plus a scissor or clipper trim. |
Where you land inside a range depends on your dog's weight. Coat condition matters too — a coat that has been brushed all season comes apart quickly, and one that has not takes longer and sometimes cannot be saved at length. We will tell you which one you have before we start, not after.

If a coat is matted tight to the skin, the humane answer is a shorter cut, not hours of pulling. We will show you the mats and explain the options first. And if we find something on the skin that looks like it belongs to a vet — a lump, a hot spot, an ear that smells wrong — we will point it out and tell you to get it looked at. We do not diagnose or treat anything.
Booking online for a Tuesday-to-Saturday salon
The East Northport salon runs five days a week: Tuesday through Saturday, 9am to 5pm. We are closed Sunday and Monday. That is the real constraint to plan around, and it is worth knowing before you drive over.
Look at the price first

The booking calendar shows genuine open times on Tuesday through Saturday. You choose one and it is yours.
Tell us the awkward part
Nervous about the dryer, hates having paws touched, bad experience somewhere before — put it in the notes. It changes how we handle the appointment.
Arrive at 16 Laurel Rd
We will walk the coat with you at drop-off and agree on the length before any clipper comes out.
If a seven-day-a-week option suits your household better, our Ronkonkoma salon is open every day and also does daycare, boarding and retail. Nothing about that is a downgrade — it is a different building with different services, and for some Centerport families it is the better fit. We would rather say that than pretend one salon is right for everyone.
What we don't do at East Northport
Being clear about this saves you a wasted trip.
What East Northport does
- Bath and brush, all sizes
- Full grooms with haircuts
- Thorough brush-outs on heavy shedders
- An honest read on a matted coat before we start
What it doesn't
- Cats — we do not groom them
- Creative color or show grooming
- Daycare or boarding at this location
- Any medical treatment or diagnosis
Hand-stripping a wire coat is a specialist ask and worth raising with us before you book online rather than assuming it is included in a standard groom. Same with anything unusual about your dog's handling needs — ask first, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right salon for it.
The most useful thing a groomer can tell you is when you don't need to book.
A dog with a short, smooth, well-behaved coat and a family that keeps the nails short genuinely may not need a salon every six weeks. Come when the coat asks for it. If you are unsure, the coat usually tells you: brush hits resistance behind the ears, under the collar, in the armpits and at the back of the thighs first.
Great Cow Harbor Day runs Sunday, September 20, 2026, from noon to 5pm, with a parade down Main Street in Northport Village that starts at the Brosnan Administration Building on Laurel Avenue. Northport's Main Street sidewalks are dog-friendly on leash, and Northport Village Park — Cow Harbor Park, the roughly nine-acre waterfront park at the foot of Main Street — allows leashed dogs, with paved paths, benches and restrooms. If you want your dog tidy for it, count backwards from the date when you look at the calendar: we are closed Sunday and Monday, so the last working day before that parade is the Saturday.
Questions people actually ask
How far is the salon from Centerport?
A short drive. We are at 16 Laurel Rd in East Northport, in the same Town of Huntington, and we deliberately do not quote drive times — traffic on the north shore makes any number we gave you wrong half the time.
Can I see a price before I call?
Yes. Pricing is published by weight on the grooming page: $35 to $120 for a bath and brush, $70 to $155 for a full groom with haircut. You do not have to speak to anyone to find out what your dog costs.
Are you open on Sundays or Mondays?
Not in East Northport. This salon runs Tuesday through Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Our Ronkonkoma salon is open seven days if that is what your schedule needs.
Can I just walk in?
Please book. It is a five-day-a-week salon working from an appointment calendar, so reserving the slot online is the reliable route — we would rather you had a confirmed time than a hopeful drive over from Centerport.
My dog is old and does not love being handled. Is that a problem?
Tell us in the booking notes. Senior dogs and anxious dogs get handled differently — shorter sessions, less time on the table, different priorities about what actually has to get done. What does not help is finding out at drop-off.
Do you groom cats?
No. Dogs only, at both salons.
