Lillian Ruff Pet Spa is at 835 Portion Rd, Ronkonkoma — close enough to the Centereach line that mapping apps quibble over which side the parcel falls on — and it is open seven days a week, 9am to 5pm.

A salon on the Centereach line, not a chain
Most of the grooming within easy reach of Centereach falls into two camps: national chain salons inside a big-box store, and mobile vans that come to your driveway. Both work for plenty of dogs. Both ranges are set by your dog's weight, which is why a number that wide is honest rather than evasive. A ten-pound smooth-coated dog and a hundred-pound double-coated dog are not the same amount of water, dryer time or floor space. Coat condition matters too: a coat that has to be worked out of mats takes longer than a coat that has been brushed at home.
Rather than guess at a figure for your dog, give the weight and the breed or coat type when you book and ask for the quote up front. Nobody enjoys the conversation where the price changes at pickup.
Bath and brush is probably enough if
- Your dog has a short or smooth coat that never gets cut
- You keep on top of brushing and just want the shedding pulled out
- The haircut is still holding shape and you are between full grooms
- You mainly need nails, ears and a proper dry

Sunday and weekend appointments
The Ronkonkoma location grooms seven days a week, 9am to 5pm, Sunday included. That matters more than it sounds. Weekend and Sunday availability is one of the things people search for hardest and find least, because a lot of independent salons close two days a week.
Two honest caveats. Seven-day opening is not the same as same-day service — every groom is an appointment, and we will not promise you a slot this afternoon. And a weekend appointment is still a finite slot, so if your weekend is the only time that works, book further out than you think you need to.
Daycare and overnight boarding in the same building
This is the part most Centereach owners do not realize is on Portion Road at all.
Boarding check-in runs 2:00pm to 7:00pm and check-out is 7:00am to 11:00am. First-time dogs do a 30-minute meet and greet before a stay, which is as much for your benefit as ours — you get to see the space, and we get to see how your dog handles it. The stated eligibility is that a dog must be "non-aggressive, comfortable in a kennel, able to socialize, and free from bite history." Medications that have to be given outside 7am to 10pm are a limitation worth raising on the phone before you book anything.
Suffolk County Code § 302-13 requires a current health certificate from a licensed veterinarian before any dog is accepted at a boarding kennel: rabies, distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus and coronavirus within the previous year (unless an approved three-year vaccine is certified by your vet) — and bordetella within the previous six months. That six-month bordetella clock is the one owners most often have quietly run out on. This is county law, not salon policy. Confirm current requirements with your vet and with us before your stay.
What we do not do
If you have a wire-coated terrier whose breeder told you it must be hand-stripped, or you want a show trim, we are not the right salon and would rather say so now than at drop-off.
Centereach sits in the Town of Brookhaven, and it is still home to Bethel Hobbs Community Farm on Oxhead Road — the last working farm in the hamlet. If your walks take you through fields and brush, check your dog over on the way home. New York State surveillance measured Suffolk County nymphal deer-tick density at 61.04 ticks per 1,000 square meters in 2025, with 26.6% of those nymphs carrying the Lyme bacterium; among adult ticks collected that October to December, 52.8% tested positive. Groomers find ticks routinely on the table and will remove what we find and tell you where it was — but a bite site that looks angry, or a dog that seems off, is a conversation for your veterinarian, not for us.

If the honest answer is a short haircut, we will tell you before we start and explain how to grow it back out. That is a welfare call, not an upsell.
What do I need before my dog can board?
