Sunday Dog Grooming in Ronkonkoma: Yes, We're Open
Lillian Ruff Pet Spa
Yes. The Ronkonkoma salon grooms on Sundays, 9am to 5pm, the same hours we keep every other day of the week. If you searched "dog groomer open Sunday" and landed here, that is the whole answer — the rest of this page is what it costs and how to get on the book.
Ronkonkoma is open seven days a week for grooming, 9am to 5pm, Sundays included. Bath and brush runs $35 to $120 and a full groom with a haircut runs $70 to $155, priced by your dog's weight. Book at lillianruffpetspa.com/grooming.
Yes, we groom on Sundays — 9am to 5pm, same as every other day
Sunday is not a reduced schedule, a skeleton crew, or a bath-only day at 835 Portion Road. It is a normal grooming day with the same opening hours as Monday or Thursday.
That last pair of numbers matters if you are reading this from the Huntington side of the county. Our East Northport salon on Laurel Road runs Tuesday to Saturday and is closed Sunday and Monday. It is grooming only — no daycare, no boarding. So if Sunday is genuinely the only day that works for your household, East Northport cannot help you and Ronkonkoma can. That is not a sales pitch, it is just how the two buildings are staffed.
Worth saying plainly: if a weekday works for you, book the weekday. There is no advantage to a Sunday appointment beyond the fact that it is a Sunday. Same groomers, same equipment, same price list.
Bath and brush, or a full groom with a haircut
Almost every booking question we get comes down to which of these two a dog needs. The difference is simple.
Bath and brush
- Washed, dried and brushed out
- No clipper work, no scissoring, no change to the length of the coat
- The right call for short-coated and smooth-coated dogs
- Also the right call for a double coat you want thinned and blown out, not cut
Full groom with haircut
- Everything above, plus the haircut
- Clipper and scissor work to a length you choose
- What a poodle, doodle, shih tzu, maltese or bichon coat needs on a repeating schedule
- Takes meaningfully longer, which is why it costs more
If you are not sure which one your dog needs, say so in the notes when you book, or call the salon. Exactly what is folded into each service is worth confirming at booking rather than assuming from a blog post.
Prices by weight: $35–$120 and $70–$155
Our published grooming prices are set by your dog's weight. Here are the full ranges, and they are the same ranges on a Sunday as on any other day — price follows the dog, not the calendar.
| Service | Published range | What moves you within it |
|---|---|---|
| Bath & brush | $35 – $120 | Weight of the dog. A small smooth-coated dog sits at the bottom of the range, a large heavy-coated one at the top. |
| Full groom with haircut | $70 – $155 | Weight again, plus the fact that a haircut is time on the table rather than time in the tub. |
We are not going to invent a figure for a 34-pound dog on a web page and then have you arrive to a different number. Pick the service, tell the booking system your dog's weight, and you get the price that applies before you confirm anything. The pricing page is the reference.
A coat matted down to the skin cannot be brushed out without hurting the dog, and no amount of time in the tub fixes it. The humane option is usually to clip short and start the growth over. We will talk to you before we do that — you will not collect a dog that looks nothing like what you expected. If the skin underneath looks irritated or sore, that is a vet's call, not ours.
How far ahead to book a Sunday
Here is the honest version, because you have read the other one a hundred times: we are not going to tell you slots are vanishing.
What we will tell you is that the online booking calendar shows real availability. If a Sunday time is on the screen, it exists and you can take it. If it is not there, it is taken. That is live at the moment you look, which is more than any blog post can promise you.
Open the calendar and book what you can actually see. Everything else is guesswork.
Two practical notes. First, we do not promise same-day, walk-in, emergency or after-hours grooming, on Sunday or any other day — please do not drive over on the assumption that we can fit a dog in. Second, if your dog is on a haircut schedule, the easiest thing is to book the next appointment while you are still standing at the desk with a freshly groomed dog. It costs you thirty seconds and removes the problem entirely.
Booking a Sunday appointment online
Go to the grooming page
Everything runs through lillianruffpetspa.com/grooming. That is the same system the salon looks at, so what you see is what we see.
Pick Ronkonkoma
This matters. Both salons appear in the booking system and only Ronkonkoma has Sunday hours. If Sundays are not appearing for you, check which location is selected.
Choose the service and your dog's weight
Bath and brush, or full groom with haircut. The weight you enter is what sets the price you are quoted.
Take a time between 9 and 5, and leave a note
Tell us anything we should know before the dog is on the table — nervous about dryers, arthritic back end, a lump you would rather we worked around, a haircut length that went wrong somewhere else. It gets read.
835 Portion Road is the full-service building: grooming, doggy daycare, overnight boarding and a retail shop under one roof. Daycare runs seven days a week, 7am to 7pm, at $35 for a full day of four hours or more and $30 for a half day. Boarding is $60 a night for a regular kennel and $75 for the larger premium kennel, and every boarding night includes a full day of daycare at no extra charge.
Questions people actually ask
Does a Sunday appointment cost more?
No. The published ranges — $35 to $120 for a bath and brush, $70 to $155 for a full groom with a haircut — are set by your dog's weight, not by the day of the week.
Is the East Northport salon open on Sundays too?
No. East Northport, at 16 Laurel Road, runs Tuesday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday. It is a grooming-only salon. Ronkonkoma is the seven-day location.
Can I just turn up on a Sunday for a nail trim?
Book it. We do not promise walk-in or same-day service on any day, and a nail trim you have booked takes less of your afternoon than a nail trim you drove over for and could not get. Book it online like any other appointment.
Do you groom cats?
No. Dogs only. We also do not do creative coloring, show grooming or hand-stripping — if your terrier's coat needs stripping rather than clipping, you want a specialist for that.
Can my dog stay for daycare after a Sunday groom?
Daycare runs seven days a week at Ronkonkoma, 7am to 7pm. New dogs need a 30-minute meet and greet evaluation first, so it is not something to spring on us the same morning. Pick-ups after 7pm are charged at $5 per 15 minutes. Details are on the daycare page.
Can I collect a boarding dog on a Sunday?
Yes — boarding check-out runs 7am to 11am and check-in runs 2pm to 7pm, seven days. Every boarding stay includes full-day daycare, and food can be provided at $5 a day per dog if you would rather not pack it. See the boarding page.
My dog is old and does not cope well with a long day. Is Sunday different?
Not structurally — but tell us when you book. A senior dog who cannot stand comfortably for a long session is a scheduling problem we would much rather solve before you arrive than in the middle of a haircut. Anything that looks medical rather than cosmetic, we will point you to your vet.
Book your Sunday.
Pick Ronkonkoma, choose bath and brush or a full groom, and take a time between 9 and 5. The calendar shows what is genuinely open.
